The botched release of the Epstein files also raises deeply troubling questions about whether the agency is actually committed to honoring its responsibilities to Epstein’s survivors, leaving us to wonder if the personal survivor information DOJ unlawfully released in the files was negligence or by design.
The scale and severity of the exposure of survivor information are simply staggering.
Among those exposed were more than two dozen minors, whose names were still available on DOJ’s website as of Sunday afternoon, two days after the release. A 2016 document was published which included a lengthy list of women identified as Epstein victims, yet DOJ only redacted one of the names on that list. DOJ also failed to redact dozens of nude images of young women and possibly teenagers in which their faces were visible. This is unconscionable.
