About The Obama Foundation

The Obama Foundation is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire, empower, and connect people to change their world. That mission begins on the South Side of Chicago, where the Foundation has built the Obama Presidential Center.

But that approach extends to work, whether it’s holding leadership training sessions in communities throughout the U.S., bringing local leaders together in countries around the world, working to support the global education of girls, or ensuring young men of color have pathways to opportunity.

From every corner of the globe, our program participants are working together to address some of the biggest challenges of our time—from renewing our democratic institutions, protecting LGBTQ+ rights, fighting climate change, and so much more.

The Obama Presidential Center is a 19.3-acre community and cultural campus located in historic Jackson Park on Chicago’s South Side. The $850 million complex features a four-level interactive Museum, the Home Court athletic facility, a Chicago Public Library branch, and a public plaza.

Campus Grounds: Open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.Museum Hours: Open Mondays (1 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and Tuesday through Sunday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Admission: Timed-entry tickets are required. Tickets can be booked via the Obama Foundation Ticket Office. Free admission is available to Illinois residents on Tuesdays, though you will need to reserve and verify a local ZIP code during checkout.

Center Features: The Museum: Features a full-scale replica of the Obama-era Oval Office, Michelle Obama’s dresses, and rotating historical and art exhibitions.

The Library: Houses an official branch of the Chicago Public Library, featuring a reading room.Home Court: Includes an NBA-regulation-size basketball court and leadership facilities.

Outdoor Spaces: Offers recreational zones like the John Lewis Plaza, a sledding hill, a vegetable garden, and a Wetland Walk.

Getting There: The campus is accessible by CTA buses and Metra trains. Paid, ticketless parking is available in the on-site garage off Stony Island Ave.
